Sin of Angels was conceived in early 2003 by Drummer Ray McCAffrey and Bassist Josh Maher. They were soon joined by Guitarist Todd Laskowski (WarHorse) and quickly began writing. Combining elements of Doom, Sludge and Death Metal, Sin of Angels wasted no time in recording and self-releasing the infamous two-song demo – “The Dark Sky Sessions – which contained early versions of “At Journey’s End” and “Dark Sky Prophecy.” In 2005 Sin of Angels were signed to Not Common Records and released their classic debut full length “From the Ashes.” In 2006 the band completed an Earth shattering National tour in support of Incantation and Vital Remains.
Working hard to develop the band into the Sonic Beast it is today, Sin of Angels has under gone several line-up changes over the years to fine tune itself into the perfect combination of musicians. With the inclusion of Guitarist/Vocalist David Booth and Bassist Nick Pelle, the four piece (rounded out by Ray and Todd) have built a reputation around their pummeling live shows and have shared the stage with such honorable acts as Unearthly Trance, Grief, Exhumed, The Hidden Hand, Deadbird and SUNN0))).
Now in the winter of 2007 Sin of Angels is releasing their most powerful and unrelenting release to date. “In the Grip of Despair” the new full length on Obscenity Cult Records is more crushing then ever, with more riff-laden oozing despair, hate and drug-induced depression that their fans come to expect. The Sonic fury of Sin of Angels and the reputation the band has achieved as one of the loudest and heaviest acts to emerge from the New England scene can only increase with the release of “In the Grip of Despair” with many more shows in their future the band expects to destroy the ear drums of all who witness the relentless performances of Sin of Angels.
